I’ve been having some trouble with all the rain we’ve had in my area this spring, but you know what? It’s not that bad. I had to drive to my brother’s to water his plants today. Due to a vehicle fire, I was in the car way longer than the 45 minutes it took to reach his house. When I got there, my joints were stiff enough to make me hobble—for about ten steps, then I was fine.
I’ve had some trouble with my right knee. Had some middlin’ fierce pain due to the weather. I’m not surprised. That joint has had psoriatic arthritis for over 30 years. It’s my most difficult joint by far.
But you know what? It’s the only one that’s been giving me trouble. And the pain was short lived even in that joint. A couple years ago, I would be having trouble walking at all. Now I am almost totally pain free in everything but my most stubborn joint, and it hurts rarely. Why? Zillis Ultra Cell and Ice. They have made a huge difference in how I live my life. And that topical. Perfect for a grumpy old arthritis knee.
I did try something new today. Because I’ve spoken a lot about having psoriasis, I thought it was important to mention. I have psoriasis on my lips and the skin around them. It’s ugly, it’s painful, and it’s hard to get rid of once it’s acting up. Even steroid cream doesn’t always help. I do have a Chinese cream called Yiganerjing, which sometimes works miracles and sometimes does nothing. This week, it was doing nothing.
I tried Zillis’ topical CBD cream on this once, and it was not a good thing. It’s heavily mentholated, which is awesome for painful joints and aching muscles, but burned and didn’t help the sensitive skin around my mouth. Understandable. It’s made for a different kind of pain.
I have to be very careful what I use on my lips at any time, as chemical ingredients and strong scents can make the issue worse or cause a break out to start with. I have to be super cautious of lip balm, for example. Instead of easing my issue, it can cause it. I use certain brands that are all-natural and gently scented.
Today, I saw something new in the pharmacy of my local grocery. Veritas Farms lip balm with CBD oil. Not too expensive, around five dollars for a size maybe a titch smaller than your average Chap-stick. Pre-application, the skin under my lips was red, chapped, itching, and burning to beat the band. Very uncomfortable. After application, itching and burning vanished completely. Skin feels soothed and softer, though it remains very red. I am interested in seeing if this stuff will help heal an outbreak and if it will prevent a future outbreak.
I’ll keep you posted. Have a happy 4th!
